Students from
around the world come to Mimeistry's program here in Pasadena, California to study in the most extensive Christian mime training program in the world. The program is based on a three year Apprenticeship Program, whereby the students year by year grow into equipped professional performers, directors, teachers, mentors and most of all Ministers of the Gospel. Attendees of the program begin as students, and through study become Apprentices of the art, and eventually Journeymen, who are our professional graduates. If the student has never studied mime before, we take them from the basics up to whatever level they need for their ministry. The program is unique for several reasons: the pursuit of excellence, theological grounding, and hands on teaching. |

Mimeistry believes that creativity and the expression of the arts is a God given gift to those we train. We believe that those gifts should be used, honed, and grown to their fullest extent to the glory of God. Therefore we require the students to be actively involved in each class each class, challenging the students to their personal best. As the student progresses in the program the classes become more challenging to ensure the student is growing to their fullest extent. We also involve other art forms in their training to enhance their abilities as mime artists. The students take courses in Mime, Masks, Drama, and Dance. They also are given the option of taking electives such as Pilates, Tap, Mime Prophecy, Improvisation, Fencing, Marital Arts and more. We believe in the pursuit of excellence because it is good stewardship of the gifts within our students.

Theology |

Mimeistry believes that excellent art without truth worthless. Therefore the students attend classes in Bible, Philosophy, and Arts Theology to enlarge their understanding of God's Word, understand the purposes for their art, and inspire them to create theologically sound art that will minister. Mimeistry also requires regular devotions and involvement with our church, Living Word Bible College, to challenge them to pursue their relationship with God. We believe that we are not only equipping artists, but ministers of God's living, breathing, enacted word.

Hands on Teaching |

Mimeistry is a fully interactive experience. The classes are small enough to receive one on one input from the teachers, and by the third year mentoring opportunities open up with the staff to fully develop the student to his or her full potential. We believe that in order to be a better performer, you must perform; a better choreographer, you must choreograph; a better teacher, you must teach. Thus our school program requires the students to perform, choreograph, direct and teach as they develop into professionals.
Students learn what it takes to put together a full production in our annual Gala: from prop construction, to light and sound set up, and even the long but rewarding rehearsals. Expression in movement in corporate worship is developed through participating in our church dance team and the annual Worship Symposium. By the end of the third year a graduating student will have created and performed a full 30 minute show of his or her own original choreography. Not only do the students participate in performances throughout their stay (Worship Symposium, local ministry in schools and theatres, annual Gala, student shows, etc.), but at the end of every Scholastic year (January - July) the Students will also participate in Tours that span the globe! This gives them practical experience performing, teaching workshops, and even preaching, utilizing everything they have learned. No student should graduate from Mimeistry without having experienced the possibilities and challenges of ministry for themselves. |

The School of Ministering Arts offers a Bachelors of Ministering Arts (B.M.A Degree), a three year full time residential program. Shorter periods of training/study are also possible such as the Associates of Ministering Arts (A.M.A Degree), a two year full time residential program, as well as The Arts Leadership Certificate which is a one year full time residential program. When the student graduates from Mimeistry's three year program, they will leave the school equipped to start a ministry of their own: anything from starting an arts ministry in their home church, teaching full time, or even touring around the world as professionals. Although the degree is vocational in nature, many of our credits transfer to other institutions, and some of our students have gone directly from our program to receive a Masters in other schools.
